Love Your Melon Joins the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation to Help Fund Pediatric Cancer Research and Assist Low-Income Families With Medical Costs.
TAMPA, FL, June 5, 2020 – Love Your Melon joins the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF) to help fund medical costs for low-income families with children battling cancer. The costs related to pediatric cancer treatment can quickly become a burden to families. That is why the NPCF has created a Safety Net Grant Program that aims to assist low-income families who have a child actively undergoing cancer treatment. This program provides grants up to $1,000 each year to assist with those eligible treatment based costs. This includes bills, medicine (prescription and over-the-counter), transportation to/from treatment, insurance co-pays or out of pocket costs, and medical supplies.
Love Your Melon is a company with the mission to improve the lives of children battling cancer. After achieving their goal of giving hats to every child battling cancer across the nation, they set a new goal of giving one million dollars to pediatric cancer research and providing immediate support to children and their families.
In February of 2020, Love Your Melon gifted the NPCF $50,000 to support a cutting edge clinical trial utilizing newly developed blood-based biomarkers. These blood-based biomarkers can better predict the recurrence of disease when a patient has reached remission and can have a future impact on how sarcomas are treated.
The NPCF supports unique and innovative research through a collaborative model (The Sunshine Project) with over 24 hospitals nationwide. Mr. David Frazer (CEO) states, “We are both humbled and grateful for the support from Love Your Melon. We strongly believe that by working together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of children battling cancer.”
Today, Love Your Melon gifted an additional $50,000 towards the NPCF’s Safety Net Grant Program. This funding will be allocated to families who are financially distressed and have children undergoing cancer treatment.
Every day, 43 children across the nation are diagnosed with cancer. That’s 43 families who instantly have their lives turned upside down. With the funding from Love Your Melon, the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation Safety Net Grant Program hopes to relieve some of the financial burdens from the families of these little warriors.
